How to Use Unroll.me to Clean Up Your Inbox

Hey, it's Eran here!

In this blog post, I’m going to guide you through an important step of the SOS Detox Challenge – cleaning up your email inbox.

If you’re dealing with Shiny Object Syndrome (SOS), you know how overwhelming it can be to manage the massive volume of marketing emails you receive daily.

My virtual assistant (VA) will show you how to unsubscribe from these emails in bulk using a tool called Unroll.me.

I am not affiliated with this tool in any way - simple something I've heard about using ages ago and have used it for years since I've heard of it.

Why Clean Your Inbox?

On a personal level, I prefer to keep my main email address (the one for clients) free from marketing emails.

That email is contact@eranbucai.com

I never subscribe to things using that email.

That way it is clear from any marketing material.

I use a separate email address for newsletters, promotions, and marketing campaigns, and every now and then, I clean it up using Unroll.me.

If you're like me and want to maintain a clean, distraction-free inbox, this tutorial will help you unsubscribe from emails in bulk.

You don't have to have separate email accounts, I'm just sharing with you what I do.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Unroll.me

My Virtual Assistant, Rose, has put together this step-by-step guide to help you set up Unroll.me and clean your inbox. Here's how to get started:

  • Visit Unroll.me
Go to Unroll.me and click “Sign Up For Free.” You’ll have the option to sign in with Google, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, or AOL. For this example, we’ll use Google.
  • Sign In with Your Email
After selecting Google, enter your email address and click “Continue.” You’ll have the option to either upgrade manually or automatically. For this tutorial, we’ll choose the manual option.
  • Enable Two-Step Verification
To continue, you need to enable two-step verification in your Google account. Follow the prompts to set this up, and once verified, you’ll return to Unroll.me.
  • Create an App Password
After enabling two-step verification, create an app password in your Google settings. Select "Mail" under "Select App," choose your device, and generate a 16-character app password. Copy this password and return to Unroll.me.
  • Connect Your Inbox
Paste the app password into Unroll.me to connect your inbox. Unroll.me will then scan your email for subscriptions.
  • Manage Your Subscriptions
Unroll.me will show all the subscriptions linked to your email account. You can choose to keep, unsubscribe, or roll up these subscriptions into a single email digest. The rollup feature allows you to receive a consolidated newsletter rather than individual emails from each subscription.

Now that you’ve followed the steps, it’s time to take action.

Go through your email inbox and clean out the subscriptions that are cluttering your inbox.

This will help you focus on what’s truly important and reduce distractions.

Want additional 1-on-1 help?

Summary

Unroll.me is a fantastic tool to help you bulk unsubscribe from marketing emails and declutter your inbox.

Whether you’re using Gmail, Yahoo, or any other service, the process is simple and effective.

So, take the time today to clean up your inbox and create a more focused, distraction-free environment for yourself.

Let me know how it goes (you can share about it in the free Facebook Group), and if you need extra help, my VA is ready to assist.
